Look at what the lovely orange poppies are doing now!
Can you see the cones on the little pink disks? When I first saw them, I could not figure out where they came from, they look so different from the orange flowers. But here are some all grouped together, so it is clear that they are one and the same.
Maybe I should set up a poppycam so that we can track them real-time. I know that they close up at night and unfold their orange petals with the daylight, but that is based on circumstantial observation. I have not actually witnessed them furling and unfurling.
