I would like to be able to be like these roses when I am playing my violin.

They make me so happy to look at them, all pink and floppy and crazy.   They are beautiful roses, but they just don’t seem too hung up on themselves. 

I am learning to play the violin. I love doing this.  However, some days are a little discouraging.  Last night I was trying to “ad lib” (or whatever you call that with music), and I was so uptight I could not let loose with a little tune, just cautiously played a scale when I could have been noodling.  Because I was so uptight.  Worried about making a mistake, or sounding foolish I guess.   Bummer. 

There are times when tightly-wound precision may be valuable (maybe if I were an air traffic controller? or when I am registering the second color?), but I do not seem to readily identify the times when it is not.

I will think about these roses a little more.  Try to be floppy and pink and a little crazy sometimes.
